Video Game Development LEVEL I

Session Description:

In this workshop, you will create a brief game from start to finish, becoming familiar with many aspects of scripting, lighting, materials, user interface, and animation using Unity 3D.

Unity 3D, a powerful engine for the creation of digital interactive experiences, sits at the forefront of today’s trend toward including technology in every facet of our lives. Armed with knowledge of Unity 3D, you can apply your skills to many industries, including entertainment (games and films), retail (virtual stores and advertising), architecture, engineering and science (visualization and simulation)

You Will Learn To:

  • Create a new project

  • Understand the software interface

  • Use and make basic 3d models for your scene

  • Set up and light a scene

  • Create 3d interactions in a scene

  • Add an animation to an object

  • Create an application interface

  • Create gameplay by creating goals and obstacles

After creating this game, you will have the basic skills needed to begin working with Unity for your own personal projects.

Computer Requirements:
Computers will be provided and include all of the necessary software; but if you want to bring your own computer, then we can help you get setup so you can continue your project after the session ends.

Minimum requirements:
2010 or newer computer
DirectX 9 (if using Windows)
20gb hard drive space

Recommended requirements:
2014 or newer computer
8gb RAM
DirectX 11 (if using Windows)


Lunch is not provided.

Minimum of 5 students required to host this workshop. Enrollment limited to 12 students.
