Mentor:
Gustav Carlson

Mentor Bio:
Initially hailing from a goat farm deep in the Ozarks, Gustav Carlson now lives in Fayetteville as a full-time comic creator and freelance illustrator. He has written and illustrated  two comics, Eve of the Ozarks and Backwood Folk, set in and around a fictionalized version of the Ozarks. Now he creates a universe spanning sci-fi comic called Tourist Unknown. His work can also be found animated in the documentaries Natural State of America and the Night the Blackbirds Fell. He'd tell you what he's up to when he's not drawing monsters of some sort or another, but he's found there really isn't any other kind of time.

When words and pictures collides it can become a man with superhuman powers saving the city from some impossible robot menace. Or it can be the tales of survivors hiding from hordes of hungry zombies slinking among the graveyard. It can even be just the story of your everyday girl with her everyday problems. From the mundane to the fantastically unreal the only limit to what a comic can be is what you want to make!

During this session students will get to experience every step of making a comic book, from character design to writing and drawing. And by the end of the session each student will be able to own their comics in the form of an actual collected print anthology of their combined work.
