We had a great time at NWA Startup Weekend!  Friday night started out with about 25 one minute “pitches” that was narrowed down to the top 12 ideas by popular vote.  Then everyone broke up into teams and helped those with an idea work on design, programming, business model, etc. until Sunday evening when the final 4 minute pitch is given to a panel of judges.  What we didn’t know was that this weekend was really for people who had not started planning out their business so we ended up not being able to complete for the prizes but we did win the most popular/crowd favorite award! We received a ton of great feedback and two of the other pitches were about how the education system doesn’t offer kids a way to pursue the things they love and of course the answer to that is Nerdies!  We have been asked to participate in two other competitions like this one which are more geared toward what we are doing and the stage we are at with the business and we are working on that now.  We were also approached by a man who wants to put a Nerdies in Little Rock and is going to talk to the Mayor of Little Rock this week!  All in all it was a great experience and we learned a lot about the Start-Up Culture and plan to support it in any way we can.

Keep Calm and Nerd On
