The video game genius of developers Keenan Cole & Chloe Costello Hiley bring you the best in Unity Game Development. We're excited to have these to working together with NERDIES™!

What will you learn from Keenan & Chloe?

In this 5-day workshop, students will explore the dynamics of game design by creating a 2D platformer or 3D game in Unity. Students will begin by learning how to make their way around the Unity3D game engine interface, and each subsequent day will be focused on a single principle of game development: story, game mechanics, level design and polish. By understanding these elements, students will come to understand how they interact with one another to form a cohesive experience. By the end of the week, students will be able to continue their learning on their own with the knowledge they gained with a fully working game project in tow that they can continue developing.

No previous knowledge of Unity is necessary.

Keenan Cole

Keenan Cole is passionate about making fun, exciting games, and teaching others how to do so as well. He is a Graphics Programmer and Unity3D Expert with ten years of experience.

Growing up in East Texas, he played way too much Mario, Sonic and Zelda, and, at some point, he had played enough to develop a deep curiosity into how games were developed behind the scenes and taught himself coding in his spare time. With a love of history and culture, he studied Classical Studies at the University of Arkansas and would go on to co-found Tesseract Center, where he worked with a team to create games about the classical world for college courses. He now works as a freelance Unity consultant and instructor helping others to realize their vision while creating a few of his own. He also organizes the Northwest Arkansas Users Group each month where veterans and beginners of Unity can come and learn from one another.

Chloe Costello Hiley

Chloe Costello Hiley works as the Art Director at Tesseract Center for Immersive Environments and Game Design.  In a sense, she was a NERDIE herself -- she's always had a passion for video games and dreamed of making them as a kid.  A few small experiments while in high school ended up leading to a full-fledged career! She specializes in 3D modeling and visualization, fueled by her experience as a graduate from the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture.  As a part of Nerdies, she'll be teaching how to create a visually rich 3D game.
